This “Basic GIS Course” is a certificate course that will give the students required fundamental knowledge and techniques of geographic information systems (GIS) and its various applications. The main objective of this GIS basic course is to empower the capacity of senior undergraduate students and graduates in applying their knowledge, methods and techniques which they gained from their respective specialized subjects more effectively and efficiently. The course generally covers the following content. 1. Fundamentals of GIS 2. Handling the Global Positioning System (GPS) Instrument and Linkage to Base Camp Software 3. Application of Google Earth Pro (GEP) 4. Georeferencing by Global Mapper Software 5. Various Mapping by ArcGIS Software
