About

B.A. (English) is a four-year undergraduate course, a degree program offered by Arts and Science Universities in Myanmar. In this interim period, this program is offered by MNOU. Students who passed Matriculation examination or completed BECA examination can apply for this degree program. Bachelor of Arts in English program strives to offer students opportunities for gaining English language skills for effective communication, learning English Linguistics for basic theoretical insights into the system of English language and concepts for subfields of linguistic analysis (phonology, morphology, and syntax), and learning different genres of English literature (Short stories, Prose, Poetry, Drama, and the Novel). Students who earn a 4.0 GPA in core subjects in their second year B.A. course are eligible to continue to attend B.A. Honours course, which will take students another three years to get a B.A. (Honours) degree.

Career Oppurtunities

As for BA (English) graduates, they will possess preparedness for the job market in the government sector and private sector, and for international institutions and organizations. The potential careers and industries for them are: Jobs in government organizations like Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, etc occupations or positions that need language skills for working with information in English or communicating with foreigners – e.g., careers at tourism industry, airline industry, and hospitality industry, and interpreters and translators. careers in mass communication _ e.g. documentary writers, editors, journalists, etc. jobs relating to various forms of art _ e.g., poem writers, screenwriters, translators, etc., teachers, academic scholars, educators, and researchers, translators, interpreters, etc.; for these jobs, it is better if they can continue further studies to get a master’s degree and/or a PhD degree.
